The Transcorner Walk was the result of a long-term sociocultural project and artistic collaboration with Schauspielhaus Hamburg and its regional branch, "NEW HAMBURG". After conducting several workshops within the framework of Transcorner Lab, the results were wrapped up and presented through an outdoor performance walk over the Elbe islands. The idea behind the endeavor was to democratize the process of artistic research and art-making and take it outdoors. We were inspired by the so-called practice of 'cornering' which, at that time, had been a highly discussed phenomenon, critically as well as appreciatively. The spontaneous gatherings at street corners should be transformed into collective art labs that democratize the process of research and perpetuate the joy of creative curiosity. The final performance piece featured a series of professional dance performances and outdoor workshops. It concluded with a concert in the cozy hallway of a residential building in the area of Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg. The following text is the announcemet from the theater's programm:
What happens when Cornern meets art, beer meets tutu, Altona meets Wilhelmsburg? In various workshops, adventurous Hamburg residents have explored questions like these.
The “Transcorner Walk” is the result of these meetings: an open-air workshop where you can watch short films, listen to music, and dance together. Let's go for a walk to rediscover the corners of the Hanseatic city and get creative on the spot!
