Rehearsing Peace

"Rehearsing Peace" is a research process on contemporary peace strategies and abundant thought bodies. It started with the premise that too much thinking threatens peace. Hence, the idea was to externalize my and the audience's thoughts by writing them down and thus, materializing them. I like to work with paper coils as a medium to display thought. Just like thoughts, they are delicate, fragile, and they resist your willingness to control their path. In the frame of a residency, I was able to develop a performative “peace diary". Using performative references to existing rituals, I wanted to explore whether a cult of sacrifice can still be relevant in light of the current state of the world, and how much spirituality can still be “tolerated.” The preliminary results conculuded with a series of photographies, a workshop score and a performative flirt with an imaginary audience.
Parallel to that, I contionued my research on art and diplomacy. An excerpt of my master thesis, which I wrote about peacebuilding and its performative an aesthetic qualities, is embedded below. Please note that it was initially written in german and this translation has been done by an AI tool.
