School Projects
Category: Socioculture | Role: Cultural Mediator, Workshop Leader | Venue: Johann Peter Hebel Grundschule Berlin
Together with my colleague, Dr. Raphaela Panyr, I have co-led workshops and performance projects that were initiated in response to a rise in violence following the pandemic. Each of the projects explored different subtopics, but they can be subsumed under the umbrella of communication and democracy engagement. It is important to us that kids are free to move and fool around during the sessions, but without jeopardizing the entire endeavor. We ask for commitment rather than discipline, and that can lead to promising ideas as well as challenge our patience. Despite our background in Performing Arts, we are not limited to the development of scenes in the classical sense of the word. Most of the time, the projects culminate with an interactive performance installation that other pupils and parents can move through. At the end of the day, we intend to create spaces where students can accept mutual vulnerabilities and discover their social, if not political, strength.
