Tanz Europe Express
Category: Performance | Role: Performer | Venues: Theaterdiscounter Berlin, Lichthof Theater Hamburg
The following lines are the announcement of the piece, published on the venue's website and flyer:
Six young Europeans dance their hearts out—and back inside. In this energetic performance, the rhythm of our everyday lives meets evocative images of life in Europe. A modern round dance set to the sounds of Kraftwerk / MRZ / Post Industrial Boys / Fluxion / The Field / Europe and medieval hurdy-gurdy music. The high achievers and the respectable set are hosting one of the most beautiful balls of the season.
Since Tanz Europe Express premiered, Europe’s socio-political landscape has been constantly changing. For this reason, MDVZ developed completely new second part for the performance at the Theaterdiscounter as an update and expansion.
Tanz Europe Express was born while dancing to a strange song in an empty bar. It’s about dancing—in everyday life, for pleasure. How do we dance? How, where, and when do people dance in today’s Europe? Dancing also means the great pleasure of moving without goals or expectations. Dancing is an individual choice, and often we dance alone. Perhaps surrounded by thousands of people, but still. Are we sure we’re the ones dancing? How are we actually doing? We, who shouldn’t stop dancing, because otherwise we’d be lost…
