Andrea Krohn - LOOK CLOSER UNTIL YOU TOUCH IT
Category: Performance | Role: Dramaturg | Venues: Kampnagel Hamburg, Künstler:innenhaus Mousonturm Frankfurt
You see each other. And you see a dancer. She perceives herself looking at the audience while they themselves are observing her movements. Imagine all those tiny sight lines as little threads jumping chaotically through the space. Can a dancer follow those invisible threads, grab, or maybe even create them? As the human gaze is fleeting, movements are as well, vanishing at every moment. Observe carefully what you see while it's happening. Listen to our voices ... here ... there ... now ... gone.
Now close your eyes. What do you see? What is your eye looking for? The movement of the eyeball
is as impossible to catch as dance itself. Is there a difference between the movement of the gaze and that of the eye? If so, then how much is the gaze directed, and how much freedom do we allow it?

A choreography about interaction and expectations on the action of looking.
The piece was presented as a solo lecture performance in the Tagung "Practice as Research" Gesellschaft für Tanzforschung / Hamburg, in the Tanzkongress / Hannover and in the Theatre Mousonturm / Frankfurt am Main.
