Attention! Stereotypes of Dancing Women – Breathe In, Breathe Out! A performance that questions the physicality of power and femininity in the history of dance.
The piece is structured around several key elements: First, the performer’s breathing as the source of her movement. Second, various interviews with female dancers serve as a soundscape for the performance. Third, the project engages in an intensive examination of dance history and images of famous female dancers and choreographers from the so-called “free dance” period of the early 20th century.
